COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW Pirelli UK - by Matt Pike
So ... you have the best exhaust on the market, the best brakes and all the performance modifications, but without the correct tyres, all the modifications you make will be useless. Choosing the correct tyre is arguably the safest and wisest performance add-on you can make for your bike, so we decided to look into this to see what is the leading tyre and manufacturer for 2008.
The first place we looked was for track inspired tyres which led us to Pirelli, Pirelli are the exclusive supplier to the World Superbike Championships and World Supersport in 2008.
The Pirelli Diablo Corsa III is the latest track day/street tyre from Pirelli utilising World Superbike technology to bring us unheard of levels of grip and a triple compound tyre for the road. The front tyre sports a 'NEW' single compound designed to improve corner-entry stability and feel on the brakes, while the rear is now a “ three zone compound ” offering a central compound which remains the same as the current tyre, while the compound on the shoulders is claimed to be 15 per cent softer, offering quicker warm up and more grip.
Technology
The Pirelli Diablo Corsa III's durable structure incorporates new materials, as well as Pirelli's patented zero-degree steel-belted radial design and the MIRS production process. A single compound is utilised on the Pirelli Diablo Corsa III front, with two compounds adorning the rear in three different zones: the center zone (which uses the same compound as its Corsa predecessor) and the softer shoulders on each side (which sport a new compound).
The Pirelli Diablo Corsa III tyre is a first in the new style of robot produced tyres This allowed Pirelli to tweak construction and design almost to perfection. This tyre has a similar tread pattern to the Diablo tyre but with slightly narrower tread cuts increasing the level of grip. The compound is entyrely different. Grip came first when this compound was invented.
Shortly after its launch, the Pirelli Diablo Corsa III was one of MCN's subjects of test in a massive tyre test that they performed. It achieved an unheard of 100% score with the Pirelli Diablo on 98% and the Metzeler Sportec M1 on 96%. These tyres are in a class of their own.
• Pirelli Diablo Corsa III guarantees you extreme grip lap after lap
• Performance as soon as you need it
• Confidence on normal roads and top performance on race track
• Improved corner entry while braking hard
• Exploitation of your bikes potential to the up most.

Conclusion
I was a bit concerned when it came to scrubbing in the tyres, but after only 50 miles I found no matter how hard I tried I could not get the tyres to spin up. I also found that they get up to temperature very quickly and offer masses of grip. I can find absolutely no flaws with these tyres, the grip at full lean is simply amazing. I have nothing but pure confidence in the Pirelli Diablo Corsa III's.
Editors Note : Obviously neither WWW.CBR1000RR.CO.UK nor Pirelli UK condone speeding on a public highway, please ride with caution.
We rate this product
5 out of 5
One of the first things that struck me when I took delivery of my new tyres was just how light they are, much lighter than my previous tyres which should see a gyroscopic effect on rotating mass thus actually increasing speed and agility.
These pictures show the profile of the tyre, while rounded yet not too extreme but its easy to see that these tyres were developed with one thing in mind, cornering.
You can also clearly see the triple compounds used in the tyres surface.
